Taichung Taxi Fares Explained
Taichung taxis use a metered fare set by the city government. The meter starts with a flagfall that covers the first 1.5 kilometers, then adds distance and waiting-time charges.
Rides are charged by distance once moving, with extra increments when traffic slows below a set speed. A nighttime surcharge applies between 23:00 and 06:00, and a Spring Festival surcharge may also apply.
Drivers generally accept cash, though many also take EasyCard or mobile payments. Receipts are available on request, and booking through apps or phone dispatch is common.
